Identafi® technology works by processing the fluorescence and reflectance in certain types of tissues. Identafi core technologies are based on high-speed, high-resolution capability from its patented optical processing technology. This device uses 3 colored wavelengths, white, violet, and amber, to excite the oral tissues in distinct ways, making it easy to identify healthy and diseased tissues in your mouth. This allows biochemical changes in your mouth to be identified and monitored with fluorescence, while morphological changes can be diagnosed with reflectance. Diseased tissues will appear darker, and will not reflect as much light back towards the device. The combination of the 3 differently colored wavelengths provides our dentist with more information and improved results, making us much more confident in providing your diagnosis and recommending a biopsy.
